Yes, you need the original game, and the Burning Crusade (the first expansion)
I recommend going to gamestop, they ahve a game chest that contains both games plus some guides for like $30, preorder WOTLK at the same time.

You’d need the first one, I assume, since it is an expansion.
Where and how much is up to you, and you obviously already know what it’s called because you posted it in the title.
Keep in mind that WoW has a 15 dollar a month fee.
I played the expansion at BlizzCon. I don’t see why people like WoW so much, but I’m a baised opinion.

You need: World of Warcraft (original edition)
WoW Burning Crusade (first expansion, Discs)
WoW Wrath of the Lich King(Discs)
Reason you need to have all of those is because you have to level from 1-60 on original, 60-70 on BC, and 70-80 on WotLK

You need the original World of Warcraft AND the Burning Crusade if you want to play with the Lich King.

you do need to buy the other games so you can get up to level 80 and have Drieni (can’t remember the name of them) and blood elfs and the new weapons and alot of other cool stuff.

1:Get WoW trial.
11/2: When that’s downloaded just click the thing that says get full version on the trial launcher.
2:BUY Burning Crusade expansion and install
3:Buy Wrath of the Lich King Expansion. (Comes out 11/13/08)
LK will probably be $60 and when that comes out BC might be like $30. You can buy these at MicroCenter, Best Buy, GameStop, Play N’ Trade Games, and possibly Toys R Us.
NOTE: Once you buy the disk for the game does not mean it’s free. WoW has a $15 fee a month

You will need the original game World of Warcraft AND also the first expansion World of Warcraft The Burning Crusade. Then you can play World of Warcraft The Wrath Of The Lich King. Because the original game is like the base environment of the game and you have to start your char as a lvl1 newbie so you have to buy three games. The total cost is about $70US/CAN/AT in Wal Mart, EA games and other game stores . And if you start playing, have limits, don’t listen to those guys that are saying things like”its so addicting! you are wasting your time!”, i think they are elementary kids who cant control their selves, I’m 13 and I doubt that adults would have less self control than me, duh? Plz give me best answer if i have helpped.

If you only have Wrath of the Lich King you shouldn’t be able to play. Think about it Classic = Level 1 to 60. The Burning Crusade = 60 to 70. If you don’t had the Classic and Burning Crusade you should be stuck… Since if you can’t even create an unit without classic. I hope this help you out.

If u want to play the expansion ur going to have to buy the first world of warcraft and the world of warcraft the burning crusade.if i were u i would go to a store and buy the battle chest.It comes with both the games and the manuals to them for only $40.00. if u bought them seperatley it would be around $50.00-$60.00.
